[NB] Evidentiary Ghosts II: Trash Heap and Salvation

Philip K. Dick noted that one of the first places that the spirit of salvation tends to manifest is in the trash heap. Some trashy bit of fiction, a cheap bit of jewelry, a character in a TV show, becomes illumined all out of proportion to their material presence and speaks to us. It’s the sort of thing that superficially seems to justify all sorts of pop culture magic experimentation, but if placed in the context of the ghost-ridden fallen world, speaks against such efforts.

[NB] Time, Angels, Daimons, Heroes, and Gods

I often find it easier to think about time in terms of space, in terms of the way we can abstract and spatialize time for a number of broadly mathematical operations. I think that’s pretty common, because we are better suited to conceiving of space than we are to conceiving of time. We can use our better grasp of space to ‘sneak up’ on time.

A Vision and the Image of Life

I haven’t talked about the Yeatses’ Vision materials in a dog’s age. There isn’t much more to be said that wouldn’t involve getting over-invested in the obscurities particular to their experience. Reversing the direction somewhat, though, there is one thing worth mentioning by way of extraction and magnification. Alongside the traditionally spiritualist model in A Vision, there  is also a biological model of spiritual life in play. William aligns the lunar cycle that sits at the heart of the Yeatsian model with a life cycle, most especially a plant’s life. So, by way of a somewhat late footnote:

More Conscious Evolution

The back and forth that kicked off yesterday’s post came at an opportune time and helped me to solidify some material that started with this post. I had wanted to develop that post more by talking about Kabbalism proper and the question as to the possible identity or distinction between sefirot and henads allowed me to do some of that.

Okay, so this is going to sound weird and science fictional, but I work with what I got. I want to talk toward a fully temporalized account of embodied intelligences in dialogue with eternity as an alternative to a holographic account of eternity projecting itself into a temporal frame generating intelligences according to eternity’s logic.

[NB] Winding Evolution and Consciousness More Closely

I’m building up to a larger idea, but I want to start with some small steps, taking my discussions about consciousness and evolution just one increment further. This started with my comparison of consciousness and evolution in order to preserve the concept of consciousness as a process and retain the practical reality of individual consciousnesses (which I will try to call ‘intelligences’ to help differentiate the two levels).

This will be a little abstract to start, but I hope to start digging down into the dirt of it as time goes on.

[NB] More Consciousness, Less Fine tuning

I have been using the Kabbalistic framework heavily of late, but let me come out and try to parse it out with less arcane terms. What the discussion of klippoth, of fall and fracture, help me think through are the mechanics of consciousness. I suspect Gordon is on to something when he says that consciousness is primary and spirit work is secondary, but only if we flesh out secondary and primary in the right way.
